About the Author:

Pete is an award-winning magazine writer and author, speaker and adventurer. A former member of Lower Adirondack Search and Rescue, he is New York State-certified in wildlands search and rescue, and has extensive outdoor experience in the Adirondacks rock and ice climbing, hiking, winter mountaineering, backcountry and lift-serviced skiing, snowshoeing, and canoeing. He is a First Prize winner in the 2005 North American Travel Journalists Association Awards Competition, and a recipient of the Summit Award from Lower Adirondack Search and Rescue. Pete is an active member of the American Alpine Club, and a former member of the Albany chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club.
